We are a premier cashmere company founded in 2004. Our brand sells to better boutiques throughout the US and Canada, offering luxury yarns including 100% Cashmere, Cotton/Cashmere, Silk/Cashmere and Merino Wool.
As an Assistant Fashion Designer at Alashan Cashmere, you will have the opportunity to work on seasonal releases and private label product development. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the development process, introducing and developing designs that are grounded in consumer research and forward thinking of customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research trends and bring in new ideas through competitive shopping;, tear sheets, magazines, trade journals, and websites.
- Develop mood and style boards for collection inspiration and style tracking.
- Contribute and evaluate colors based on market trends and sales evaluation.
- Prepare Technical Packages (TPs) that clearly communicate style and technical details for accurate style development.
- Meet all events/deadlines on design calendar
- Expert garment sketching via flat and/or online
- Accurately measure garments, fit and process TPs according to established standards.
- Communicate daily to all necessary parties with an attention to detail that achieves timely delivery and market superior product.
- Create private label TPs as directed by incoming orders.
- Execute specific design development projects as assigned by the company.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Certification in Apparel Design or equivalent work experience.
- 1-2 years in apparel related role.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with partners in Design, Production, Sales and Social Media.
- Ability to successfully work in a team environment.
- Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions.
- Technical knowledge of knit sweaters apparel construction.
- Knowledge of knit sweaters manufacturing techniques and processes.
- Ability to research and report on industry trend direction, color direction, and fabric innovations approximately 9-12 months ahead of season.
- Adapt to fast-paced, demanding and highly creative environment
- Goal oriented self-starter
- Expert-ability to sketch or to communicate design ideas
- Adobe program experience a plus.
- Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft programs.
