Overview
The Alaska Court System is seeking a knowledgeable Court Accounting Analyst to join our team in Fiscal Operations. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in statewide administration of trial court finances, maintaining accurate financial records, reviewing court disbursements, and monitoring fiscal responsibilities of individual courts. This position requires strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Typical Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Plan, develop, recommend and implement court policies and procedures for the receipt and disbursement of revenue and trust funds in accordance with state and court policy;
- Oversee and update policy and procedure manuals for accounting; work closely with the Information Services Support Division to design, review and implement court-related accounting systems;
- Develop internal audit procedures; compile and analyze collections of data for compliance reviews and audit trial court accounting functions;
- Travel to statewide court locations to conduct financial reviews and audits; prepare written reports of finding and make recommendations regarding outcomes;
- Report to Area Court Administrators and Rural Court Administrators regarding audit outcomes and unresolved bookkeeping issues;
- Other duties as assigned or needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in accounting, finance, public administration, or a closely related field AND two years of supervisory experience as an accounting supervisor or financial manager.
Substitution
- Four years of work experience in accounting may be substituted for the required college degree.
