Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has a hiring preference for qualified Alaska Native and American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act.

Summary: Under general direction performs skilled craft construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of all plumbing work in facility. May perform work in more than one craft discipline as personal skill permits and workload requires.

Responsibilities:

Performs extensive remodels within the hospital structure, including demolition and installation of supply and waste piping and various equipment. Builds or remodels interior spaces including both office areas and patient care areas. Performs concrete coring, and refinishing work.

Requires extensive knowledge of how to perform design-builds, while complying with Plumbing Code and NFPA Fire & Life Safety Codes.

Performs plumbing code inspection, installation, troubleshooting, repairs and conducts preventative maintenance of hospital facilities steam, water, air, glycol and medical gas systems.

Responds to service calls or work requests from all areas of the hospital relating to the repair and maintenance of plumbing fixtures, piping and equipment along with medical gas systems. Corrects problems or refers to another department.

Follows safety precautions and procedures in performance of job duties.

Orders supplies and materials related to projects, 8coordinates and schedules contractors and other maintenance workers.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

· Knowledge of operating hand and power tools.

· Knowledge of operating, troubleshooting and maintaining building and grounds equipment.

· Knowledge of transporting and disposing items of varying compounds, textures or quantities.

· Knowledge of safety procedures for repair and maintenance.

· Knowledge of safety precautions when operating motorized vehicles, equipment and hand tools.

· Skill in reading and evaluating blueprints, panel layout sheets and other technical schematics.

· Skill in preparing plumbing material take-offs for the purpose of material ordering.

· Ability to interpret and follow plumbing code and specifications such as blueprints, manuals, sketches, and work orders.

· Skill in using analytical and research ability to define and solve problems.

· Skill in operating motorized vehicles, equipment and hand tools.

· Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

All

Completion of a formal apprenticeship program typically requiring a combination of 8,000-10,000 hours of education, practice, and/or on-the-job training and leading to a journey-level designation.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

Senior Constuction Journeyman Plumber

Non-supervisory - Five (5) years of skilled craft work experience in plumbing required. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

Construction Journeyman Plumber

· Must possess State journeyman plumber license & Municipality of Anchorage plumber’s license.

· Must possess ASME IX Brazer Certification.

· Must possess ASSE 6010 Medical Gas Installer Certification.
