APFC External Partner Internship Program
We’re excited to announce an incredible internship opportunity with one of APFC’s valued external partners! To be considered for APFC’s external internship programs, applicants need to meet the following criteria:
- Be currently enrolled at an Alaska university or be an Alaska resident attending school in any state.
- Be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree or have graduated within the past six months.
- Pursuit of a bachelor’s or master's degree in business, finance, economics, business economics, or related fields – minimum GPA of 3.0 or the preferred academic standing of external partner internship program.

Senior Investment Intern – L&B Realty Advisors
Location of Internship: Dallas, Texas
Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, L&B Realty Advisors is a real estate investment advisor with approximately $9 billion in assets under management. Founded in 1965, the firm provides real estate investment management services to institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals. Clients include public and private pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, Taft-Hartley pension plans, endowments, foundations, and private investors. The firm is comprised of two distinct functions: investment management and independent fiduciary services. As an investment manager, the firm executes full-service investment management from acquisition to asset management to disposition. As an independent fiduciary, the firm provides financial advisory and owner representation services.
We are looking for a summer intern to join our rotational program, which will provide exposure to the different departments at L&B Realty Advisors. The intern will work in accounting, asset management, portfolio management, research, human resources, and IT, gaining experience and exposure to their organizational roles.
The responsibilities of a Senior Investment Intern include:
- Review property reports which include both financial and operating information for accuracy
- Assist with preparing reports for clients and consultants
- Review, edit, or write narratives for property-level reports.
- Participate in calls with leasing and property management teams
- Provide support in reviewing prospective tenants including financial review, lease analysis, and lease negotiations
- Review valuation models and appraisals
- Track performance returns compared to benchmark in Excel
- Provide analytical support as needed in reviewing acquisition underwriting including initial feasibility analysis and debt financing transactions
- Work with analysts to update and maintain database for tracking performance returns and projections
- Use data from projected and historical performance returns to identify trends to aid in future investment strategies
- Assist with preparing research on investment strategies including compiling, analyzing and interpreting market research
- Aid in review of tenants regarding their viability, credit worthiness and financial conditions
- Coordinate information between departments
- Work with HR to understand the role within the organization
- Work with IT Team to understand their role within the organization
The requirements for this intern position include:
- 90 credit hours at an accredited institution. Working towards Master or BBA (or equivalent) emphasis on Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or Accounting, overall GPA of 3.25 and 3.5 in major field of study.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Self-starter with can-do attitude and quick learning ability
- Deadline-driven, ability to work under pressure
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Good working knowledge of basic accounting and finance terminology
- Familiarity with Argus software (or valuation models) a plus
