The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Administrative Service is recruiting for a Data Processing Manager 1 (Lead .NET Software Engineer) located in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau!

What you will be doing :

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG) Division of Administrative Services is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to lead our dynamic team and drive our projects to success. This pivotal role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in designing and implementing complex software solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for innovation.

  • Design and Architect : As the senior-most software developer and solution architect, you will design and architect .NET and Azure software solutions, utilizing clean architecture design principles.
  • Oversee Development Lifecycle : Manage the entire software development lifecycle, from planning to deployment, implementing process improvements with tools like Azure DevOps.
  • Mentor and Motivate : Lead and inspire a team of .NET developers, ensuring efficient project execution and high-quality deliverables. Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain superior code quality.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders : Work closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define project requirements and scope for Azure, mobile, and on-premises applications.
  • Foster Growth : Promote a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging growth and skill development among team members using training tools such as Pluralsight and Microsoft Learn.

The working conditions you can expect :

The position may be located in Juneau, Anchorage, or Fairbanks dependent upon the location of the most qualified candidate.

  • Juneau ADFG Headquarters at 1255 W 8th Street
  • Anchorage ADFG Office at 333 Raspberry Road
  • Fairbanks ADFG Office at 1300 College Road
  • The successful candidate will lead a small team of software developers and can expect to interact with other ADFG staff, IT contractors, and OIT staff regularly.

  • Software Development : Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for designing, developing, and testing software in a given environment.
  • Web Technology : Knowledge of the principles and methods of web technologies, tools, and delivery systems, including web security, privacy policy practices, and user interface issues.
  • Software Engineering : Knowledge of software engineering design and development methodologies, paradigms, and tools; the software life cycle; software reusability; and software reliability metrics.

  • Database Management Systems : Knowledge of the uses of database management systems and software to control the organization, storage, retrieval, security, and integrity of data.

  • Developing Others : Develops the ability of others to perform and contribute to the organization by providing ongoing feedback and by providing opportunities to learn through formal and informal methods.
  • Critical Thinking : Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Client Engagement / Change Management : Knowledge of the impact of change on people, processes, procedures, leadership, and organizational culture; knowledge of change management principles, strategies, and techniques required for effectively planning, implementing, and evaluating change in the organization.
