Position Summary :
The Registered Professional Nurse plays a vital role in the Operating Room by assessing, coordinating, planning, directing, and managing the needs of surgical patients. This role emphasizes progressive care toward discharge and effective transitions during acute stays. As a surgical nurse, you will be a champion for patient advocacy, guaranteeing that exceptional care is delivered consistently across all settings including inpatient, ambulatory, and community.
Key Responsibilities :
- Implement physician orders and administer medications within sterile fields, accurately documenting according to policy and regulatory standards.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care provided.
- Utilize sound judgment to make informed decisions regarding patient care management.
- Guide and supervise ancillary staff while upholding professional nursing standards.
- Serve as an advocate for patients in the surgical environment.
Minimum Qualifications :
The Albany Medical Center has expanded its Surgical Care program to meet patient needs, featuring 35 state-of-the-art operating suites utilizing advanced robotic technology. Our hybrid operating suite integrates minimally invasive and interventional surgical practices, enhancing our capabilities in cardiac, neurology, urology, vascular, and pediatric surgery. We also have a two-room intraoperative CT suite for complex spine and brain surgeries.
