Pediatric Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner Role
Albany Medical Center seeks a highly skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our pediatric gastroenterology team. As an NP, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care, working collaboratively with attending physicians, primary nurses, and other healthcare providers.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to project a professional image and earn the confidence of patients, families, and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, complete physical examinations, and collect clinical data, including vital signs and medical laboratory test results.
- Diagnose medical conditions, administer medications or treatments, and perform minor surgery as necessary, in collaboration with attending physicians.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical reports, manage inventory of medical supplies, and ensure effective billing through accurate patient coding.
- Serve as a resource and team leader during clinical shifts, ensuring smooth patient processing, treatment, and discharge.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to new staff members and/or physician assistant students in their roles.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Ability to quickly master all aspects of computerized medical recordkeeping and billing systems.
- Must be HIPAA compliant at all times and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner – Licensed.
- ATLS - Advanced Trauma Life Support certification.
- BCLS - Basic Life Support certification.
