The Senior Medical Surgical Nurse assesses, coordinates, plans, directs, implements and manages the needs of assigned patients throughout the episode of care with a focus on progress toward discharge, including during transitions within the acute care stay. They are responsible for the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team. The role requires a compassionate and caring approach to patient and family interactions, as well as active participation in performance and quality improvement activities. The ideal candidate will exhibit positive service excellence skills and demonstrate effective teamwork. The Senior Medical Surgical Nurse must contribute to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues, and demonstrate stewardship by thoughtful and responsible use of resources.
