Position Title:  Assistant Professor of Economics and Analytics
Reporting To:  Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty

This is an in-person position, a 10-month position. The expected start date is August 18, 2025.

Job Overview:
Albertus Magnus College Tagliatela School of Business and Leadership invites applications for a full-time faculty member to deliver high-quality, student-centered learning experiences and education with a primary responsibility in Economics and Analytics. Working in cooperation with faculty and staff, the successful candidate will provide high-quality educational services to undergraduate students in a variety of modalities (including online, hybrid and on-ground), engage in an active scholarly agenda, participate in governance, and enhance the college's reputation and partnerships in the community. Candidates must have experience teaching both introductory and advanced level economics courses to undergraduate and graduate students. The preferred candidate will have a demonstrated ability to instruct a range of graduate and undergraduate courses in applied data science, analytics, and/or applied statistics. Rank will be commensurate with education and experience.


Education:
Candidates must have earned a doctorate in Economics or Analytics from a regionally accredited US university or comparable non-Us university. The College will consider doctoral candidates who are in the final stages of completing their degrees.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated teaching skills and strong subject knowledge, preferably at the college level.
  • Active participation in professional activities and membership in industry organizations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity issues in higher education or through community-based work.
  • Experience with or the potential to mentor and teach adults from diverse backgrounds at the undergraduate and graduate levels, contribute to academic program and course development, participate actively in assessment of student learning outcomes and institutional development, and pursue scholarly interests.
  • Possess strong communication and computer science skills, and effective organizational skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Teach 24 credits per year over two academic semesters (fall and spring, 4 courses per term). Teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including both day and evening courses.
  • Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of Albertus Magnus College, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria.
  • Provide engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered.
  • Use the college’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students.
  • Contribute to the College through teaching, scholarship, service, and building community connections to support the business programs.
  • Grow and maintain a network of industry connections to support internship and job shadow opportunities, as well as college-to-career connections for students. 
  • Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Collaborate in college-wide and inter-disciplinary initiatives to promote business programs efforts and to help generate student interest in the majors.
  • Implement and support computer lab activities to ensure student learning.
  • Contribute to periodic reviews and revisions of departmental course offerings.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Technology Skills: Proficient in MS Office tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), e-mail, and the Internet. Ability to learn new applications quickly, including organization-wide information systems and department-specific software applications. Ability to teach by leveraging the learning management system and other technology tools.

Language Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively provide information and positively respond to questions from both external and internal customers both in person and by phone. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a number of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work independently and as a group member in developing and executing project plans. Ability to work in the theoretical arena and apply logic as appropriate.

Work Schedule Requirements:
This is an in-person position with evening classes scheduled.

Benefits:
Full-time employees are eligible to receive medical, dental, and vision benefits. Full-Time employees can earn between 18-23 paid time off a year. The employer covers tuition remission after 90 days of employment and covers 100 % (employees responsible for books and technology fees). The college is committed to work-life balance and has a summer schedule from June through August. We currently have 14 paid holidays, including a winter break.  You will have the opportunity to participate in our retirement plan from day one, and after one year of employment, the college contributes depending on your service years.
