ACCOUNTANT FOR THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT
Compensation: Wage range: $24.81 per hour - $30.51 per hour ($51,595.58 - $63,456.06 annually); Note: the starting hourly rate for this position will be $24.81 per hour.

POSITION FUNCTION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Senior Accountant, the Accountant is a lead position performing maintenance, analysis, interpretation, and management of financial and accounting data. Work includes accounting skills in preparation and posting of various journals, ledgers, and accounts; analysis and presentation of financial data and statements; analyzing contract requirements and processing invoices for payment; analyzing budget requirements; allocation of funds to various accounts or functions; and other complex accounting and HUD required activities. Current knowledge of and experience with Tenmast accounting software. Accountant is expected to understand and apply accounting theories, principles, terms, and practices in the preparation and evaluation of fiscal records.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, and
- Two (2) years of directly related experience in processes and systems described above.
- Working knowledge and experience in a federally funded program or fund accounting with grant experience.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Accounting.
Substitution:
- In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an associate degree and four (4) years of experience in Accounting and working knowledge and experience in a federally funded program or fund accounting with grant experience.
- In lieu of a bachelor's degree, six (6) years of experience in Accounting and working knowledge and experience in a federally funded program or fund accounting with grant experience.
Language Requirements:
Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures and technical manuals. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, contractors, supervisors, co-workers, residents, and city/county agencies.
