Current teachers who apply for an EA position will receive G1 schedule salary***

Supports families, school staff and community partners in their efforts to assist students in achieving educational excellence and bridge the gap between home, school and community.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Complies with state-approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations.

  • Articulates and facilitates the implementation of the mission and values of the Albuquerque Public Schools.

  • Safeguards confidentiality of privileged information.

  • Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, District policy and administrative regulations.

  • Shares the responsibility for the supervision and care of District inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies, and reports safety hazards promptly.

  • Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with employees, community and other professionals.

  • Maintains professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities and self-selected professional growth activities.

  • Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and participates on committees within area of responsibility.

  • Coordinates summer program activities including student clubs, field trips, class schedules and other administrative tasks as assigned

  • Attends weekly field trips and responsible for co-leading groups of students during field trips in collaboration with teachers and other staff members

  • Makes regular calls and contact with families

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds in supplies which requires bending, stooping and lifting.
  • Educational Assistants working in certain special education classrooms are required to regularly assist in the lifting or moving of students of varying weights and sizes for programmatic, hygiene or feeding purposes.
  • The employee must use hands and arms to manipulate objects.
  • The employee must use keyboards, tools and other controls.
  • The employee must sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • The employee must have normal vision and hearing with or without aid.
  • The employee must be able to move about assigned locations unaided during the work day.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to work independently
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem solving skills.

  • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects.

  • Basic computer skills with experience with MS Office

  • Knowledge of the needs of youth and diverse ethnic populations.

  • Knowledge of Albuquerque's refugee and/or immigrant community.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of best practices for engaging families.

  • Knowledge of database and spread spreadsheet software

  • Experience working with refugee/immigrant students and families



REQUIREMENTS:


REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Four (4) years of experience working with families and schools.

  • One (1) year experience in training adults.

  • Bilingual/Multilingual
