Crew and Logistics Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the shipping of trailers to dealers, including but not limited to, coordinating VIN tags, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation regulations for truck drivers, and invoice reporting. This position works closely with Plant Manager, Inside Sales Manager, and Weld Shop/Production Schedule Manager as well as with all regional dealerships.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and supervise Commercial Drivers, Yard Shipping crew, and Logistics Administrator.
- Manages trailer Work Order/WO release process
- Monday: Release work orders no later than noon time Monday in the approximate amount of $600K of trailers. This supports production Wednesday through Saturday.
- Wednesday: Release work orders no later than noon time on Wednesday in the approximate amount of $450K of trailers. This supports production from Sunday through Tuesday.
- Functions as a key dealer relationship holder for trailer shipment scheduling.
- Identifies Sales Order questions and resolves them with Inside Sales Manager prior to releasing the work order to production.
- Manages deliveries and creates appropriate load plans to maximize delivery.
- Manages yard inventory by planning effective shipping schedules and by communicating with Outside Sales to push/move demo trailer stock.
- Call outside trucking contractors when distant or large shipments are required.
- Works cross-functionally with Sales to support the needs of our dealer and customer base and helps resolve any problems that would result in positive customer relations as well as a lasting sentiment that doing business with Alcom is easy and positive.
- Supports dealer relationships with key accounts needing additional communications and support to assure relationship success.
- Works with the Warranty Manager on any needed return and reshipment.
- Performs all other additional tasks as required or assigned.
- A 4-year college business degree is preferred. May recognize equivalent related work experience.
- Desire 5 or more years of warehousing, shipping, and receiving or logistics supervisory experience
- Must have solid PC skills with knowledge of MRP and planning software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel)
- Must have general knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations
