What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Research Scientist Opportunity position at Alcorn State University?
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research in the area of entomology, specifically focusing on native bees as pollinators of small fruits on small farms in Mississippi.
Main Duties:
- Conduct research to determine the relative density of native bee populations in agricultural landscapes during spring and summer seasons.
- Analyze data to estimate the contribution of natural-occurring and mass-released native bees on fruit set, growth, and size of strawberries and blueberries under high tunnel cultivation.
- Develop and implement a novel methodology to detect possible pesticide contamination of bees (both larval and adult stages) and their nesting substrates.
- Compile and analyze research data using Microsoft Office software.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Entomology or related field.
- Experience in experimental design and data collection for both laboratory and field experiments.
- Familiarity with integrated pest management concept and practices.
