THIS IS A 2nd SHIFT POSITION
Machinist is responsible for setting up and running Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) metal working machines. They're tasked with monitoring machinery, inspecting finished products, and leading test runs. They work closely with programming and leadership to lead the Operators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned :
- Experienced in running CNC Lathe Machines
- Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters.
- Interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances.
- Sets tool registers, offsets, compensations, and conditional switches.
- Verifies setting by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to standards.
- Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.
- Moves controls to position tool and workpiece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
- Sets up fixture or feeding device, starts machine, and turns handwheel to feed tool to workpiece or vice versa, and engages feed.

- Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; reports need for machine repairs.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Reasoning Ability :
