Job Overview:
We are seeking an efficient and detail-oriented Assembly Team Lead to join our team. This role will be responsible for providing assembly expertise, support, and direction to the Assembly team. The Assembly Team Lead will assist the Floor Manager in executing daily production schedules to ensure finished products are assembled and shipped within the required lead time to meet our customer dates. The Team Lead will also play a key role in troubleshooting processes, and detractors, identifying process improvement opportunities, and working with internal/external customers to meet their required needs. The Team Lead is also responsible for providing assembly expertise, support, and direction to all areas of the assembly process, to increase profitability, and align performance with production goals, quality standards, and customer service objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage orders for the team and ensure that parts are being coordinated in the assembly area and ensure they are shipped per customer due date.
· Provide motivation and encouragement to the assembly team, ensuring that they are continually made aware of all workplace goals surrounding production, safety, and quality.
· Work directly with the Assembly team to ensure that customer orders are executed in a timely and efficient manner and that the most urgent orders are fulfilled first.
· Comply with and enforce all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment safely and competently. Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals. Ensure assembler assigned work area is clean, organized, and orderly per 5S standards.
· Provide on-the-job training and develop needs per individual, team, and product group. Serve as a resource in specific skills training as needed by developing employees in a multitude of areas.
· Understand the metrics necessary for quality and production by collecting and evaluating production data including cycle time, green light time, parts output, material utilization, etc.
· Consistently check the quality of all products to ensure that quality requirements are being met by the work team. Promote quality objectives among one’s employees by clarifying quality standards and goals.
· Work on projects and special assignments as required
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
· Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing or materials processing experience.
· Prior work experience using a computer, including competence in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
· Familiarity with assembly tools and techniques
· Previous Team Leader experience is strongly preferred.
· Prior experience with AS400 and DMM computer programs is a plus.
