What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025/26 - Philomath School District - Special Education Teacher position at ALL BUILDINGS?
DESCRIPTION:
Provide direct special education services and support to students, effectively managing a student caseload. Provide support to general education teachers instructing students with special needs.
QUALIFICATIONS: Oregon teacher certification with Special Education endorsement as determined by Oregon Teacher Standards & Practices Commission (TSPC).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and provide instruction for students with a variety of specific educational needs.
- Provide a classroom environment that is conducive to meeting the needs of all learners.
- Implements appropriate individualized education plans (IEP) as developed by the IEP team.
- Provide case management to students with a variety of educational needs, including but not exclusive of specific learning disabilities, autism, communication disorders, behavioral disabilities, and/or developmental delays.
- Coordinate evaluation and re-evaluation process for student eligibility for special education services.
- Keeps accurate records and files for all special education students in accordance with district procedures.
- Conduct IEP meetings, as required by IDEA.
- Enter related data into an electronic IEP management system.
- Collects and analyzes data in order to frequently monitor student progress toward annual IEP goals and update IEP in accordance with district procedures.
- Assist general education teachers who also instruct students with special needs.
- Evaluate student progress annually using school, district, and/or statewide assessment tools.
- Coordinate student inclusion/participation in general education classes.
- Proactively and constructively communicate with parents and community.
- Direct and coordinate responsibilities for instructional assistants.
- Assess and direct program needs.
- Work cooperatively with other school and district staff and outside agencies to coordinate the district’s program.
- Carry out all duties assigned to licensed teachers in the school district.
CONTRACT: Starting in the 2025-26 school year. 190-day annual contract (in response to approved District calendar) Salary and full benefits per Licensed negotiated agreement.
