Job Summary
The Residential Program Worker is an essential team player who follows the ISP,
while maintaining the dignity and respect of the individuals that they support
while promoting independent living. The RPW follows the 6400 regulations to provide a safe home environment that ensures the wellness and safety of the individuals they serve.
This position has the starting base pay of $14.50 per hour ($1.00 shift differential for 3rd shift and $2.00 weekend shift differential)
Essential Functions:
-Provides personal care services according to the Individual Support Plan (ISP), including but not limited to transferring, bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, feeding, housekeeping, and emergency response. Provide health maintenance per state regulations that may include non-skilled maintenance wound care, bowel program, and assistance with daily living instrumental activities.
-Observation, documentation, and reporting of the consumer’s
condition to the Agency.
-Mobility assistance, including driving an omnibus to transport individuals and securing individual wheelchairs.
-Professional and confidential communication with the Agency and the individual’s family.
-Ensure all medical professional recommendations are being followed, including physical therapy or nutritional and hygiene directives.
-Ability to accurately administer medications as directed/trained per individual.
-Assist individuals in facilitation of their personal finances, documenting purchases and obtaining receipts.
-Responsible for supporting integration of individuals into the community.
-Adhere to agency policy and procedures.
-Ensures medical, therapy, and other appointments are thoroughly, accurately, and timely documented.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Skills in providing non-medical services for individuals with special needs.
-Ability to work in a positive and respectful approach both independently and as a team, while professionally representing the Agency in the community.
-Must have patience; good communication skills; good judgment; math, reading and writing skills; and dependable.
-Strong interpersonal skills with concentrated focus on social engagement and inclusion of residents in day-to-day activities.
-Knowledge of and ability to comply with the Federal, State and Agency Mandated Regulations.
Physical Demands:
-The employee must constantly talk, see, focus, and hear.
-The employee is constantly required to sit, walk, stand, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and reach.
-The employee must have fine manipulation ability of both hands.
-The employee must constantly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds.
-The employee must be able to handle high stressful situations on a day-to-day basis.
-The employee is constantly required to lift and/or move residents of any weight, with assistance of a Hoyer lift or other protective equipment and use all equipment effectively.
-Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Must be at least 18 years of age.
-Must have high school diploma or GED.
-Flexibility within agreed availability.
-Must attend and participate in staff meetings, along with complete and maintain required trainings.
-Must submit to a pre-employment, annual, random, and for cause drug
screen.
-Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a reliable source of transportation.
In accordance with Federal and the state of Pennsylvania regulations governing facilities/agencies that offer care-dependent services, a facility/agency may not hire an applicant nor retain an employee required to submit a criminal history report if the criminal history report reveals a felony conviction under The Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act or a conviction under any of the Pennsylvania Crime Codes. In addition, any felony offense under Chapter 39, of the Crime Code (relating to theft & related offenses), or two or more misdemeanors under Chapter 39 will prohibit hiring of the applicant or retaining the employee.
-The Agency requires a Criminal Background Check, MA Fraud Check and Child Abuse
History Clearance at the time of hire as well as periodically throughout
employment.
