Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Automotive Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our busy automotive reconditioning facility. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of automotive repairs, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. As the Shop Manager, you will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring high-quality service, maintaining inventory, ordering parts, and ensuring the shop operates efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff Management: Lead, train, and supervise a team of automotive technicians, and other shop personnel. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Customer Service: Oversee customer interactions, ensuring excellent communication and satisfaction. Address any customer concerns or complaints professionally and promptly.
- Scheduling & Workflow Management: Coordinate repair schedules to ensure timely completion of services. Prioritize high-volume jobs and maintain optimal workflow efficiency.
- Quality Control: Review and inspect repairs and maintenance services to ensure they meet industry standards and customer expectations.
- Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of parts and tools, ensuring the shop is adequately stocked and that parts are ordered in a timely manner.
- Budget & Financial Oversight: Monitor shop expenses, labor costs, and profit margins. Work with upper management to ensure financial goals are met.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure the shop complies with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices. Conduct regular safety inspections.
- Process Improvement: Implement and refine shop processes to enhance operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve service quality.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive repair industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of automotive repair, diagnostics, and maintenance. Familiarity with shop management software.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience managing and leading a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Customer-Focused: Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues efficiently.
- Certifications: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications are preferred, but not required.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical certifications or college courses in automotive technology, business, or management are a plus.
