School Health Professional - 1:1 School Nurse
Allen Brook School has an opening for a 1:1 school nurse to work in collaboration with the School Nurse and education team to provide one-on-one care to an elementary school student with specific medical needs. We are seeking candidates who enjoy working with students and faculty/staff in a positive and dynamic classroom setting. Candidates must have current unrestricted Vermont Nursing License and appropriate experience.
Responsibilities:
Assist an individual student on a 1:1 basis, providing all direct patient care ordered, including but not limited to:
- Providing G-tube feeding using pump and syringe
- Providing oxygen therapy via nasal cannula
- Perform vital signs check throughout the day
- Medication administration as needed
- Assess for changes in your student’s status and respond with the appropriate nursing interventions to ensure the student’s safety, well-being, and comfort
- Work collaboratively with the student’s family, respecting family preferences and communicating appropriately with the family and school staff
Qualifications:
Current, unrestricted, and unencumbered state license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Vermont Minimum of 1 year nursing experience, preferably in a school or pediatric setting CPR and First Aid certification.
