Job Description:
Develops and implements programs in support of the reduction and/or elimination of hospital-acquired incidents of infection. Investigates and makes recommendations. Ensures hospital and facility compliance with infection prevention regulatory standards. May assist and coach Infection Preventionist Associates.
Principle Responsibilities

Develops and implements programs.
- Develops and reviews policies and procedures.
- Audits practices to assure compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.
- Identifies and implements infection prevention and control strategies.
- Serves as infection prevention content expert during internal accreditation reviews.
- Directs investigation of epidemiologically significant organisms and makes recommendations for prevention.
- Participates and consults with teams and committees.

Designs surveillance and leads investigations.
- Collects and complies data.
- Performs electronic surveillance, applies data mining principles and integrates findings for reporting.
- Validates conducted National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) surveillance.
- Reviews cases as requested by team members.
- Conducts investigations to include basic cluster, epidemic and outbreaks, makes recommendations for mitigation and control strategies.
- Investigates hospital acquired infections, facilitates appropriate analysis and makes corrective action recommendations.

Educates and coaches.
- Assists and coaches Infection Preventionist Associate(s).
- Instructs patients, families and other visitors on infection prevention.
- Assesses needs, develops measurable goals and prepares educational offerings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Health Care related field
- 2 to 5 years experience in Infection Prevention and Bachelor's degree or
- 2 to 5 years experience in Infection Prevention and Master's degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing, Epidemiology, or Health Care related field
- 2 to 5 years experience in epidemiology principles, statistics, microbiology, adult education and quality improvement principles coursework
Licenses/Certifications
- Licensure or certification, if applicable to degree required
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred
Physical Demands

- Lifting weight Up to 20 lbs. occasionally, Up to 10 lbs. frequently
Additional Job Description:
- Full time position
- 8-hour, day shifts
- No weekend rotation
- There is some paid on-call time associated with this position - approximately three times per year
Pay Range:
Pay Range: $40.37 to $55.85 per hour
The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
