Position Summary
The Director of Facilities is responsible to perform routine and extensive range of work in the repair and general maintenance of facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment under minimal supervision. In addition, the Director of Facilities will monitor workplace activities to promote and ensure employee compliance with applicable safety regulations with responsibilities including but not limited to: ensuring all projects comply with local, state, and federal health and safety guidelines and procedures; ensuring the safety of all employees; assuring projects and buildings are up to code, and providing advice and recommendations for safety improvement. This position will chair the Health and Safety Committee and uphold responsibilities of Safety and Security Officer.This position is responsible to: people supported, Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Incorporate our values and mission into delivery of all services.
- Perform repair or general maintenance in areas such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and painting tasks.
- Ensure problems or issues are communicated to the Executive Director without delay.
- Repair structures such as showers, floors, sinks, walls, carpets and roofs.
- Perform minor repairs, troubleshooting, and adjustments of locks and cabinets, closets, desks.
- Change filters on ventilating, heating, and air conditioning units.
- Coordinates and facilitates internal information technology needs and equipment, such as phones, computers, and printers.
- Maintain fleet of passenger transportation vehicles.
- Record vehicle and equipment repairs, state regulatory testing, and other maintenance repairs into applicable databases.
- Report equipment malfunctions to appropriate vendor for action.
- Promote positive safety practices and use protective equipment whenever necessary.
- Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Conduct employee training on applicable safety standards.
- Review safety training and recommend revisions, improvements, and updates as needed.
- Conduct safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
- Inspect safety equipment; recommend replacements.
- Draft and implement internal safety standards and policies.
- Move and assist in transportation of furniture and equipment.
- Communicate and coordinate with staff/peers over scheduling of repairs, necessary accommodations, etc.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- These responsibilities are not all-inclusive and may include other duties as necessary or as delegated by the Executive Director.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Minimum Associates degree in related field.
- Prefer bachelors degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related.
- May substitute prior experience in maintenance and safety experience for degree.
- One year of related experience preferred.
Other:
- Solid knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Obtain and maintain certifications as needed.
- High degree of confidentiality.
- Very good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct training.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Regular and on time attendance.
- Ability to perform in a professional manner.
- Pass all prehire requirements such as criminal background and drug screen.
- Maintain a valid drivers license and auto liability insurance.
Minimum Physical Requirements
Strength: Sufficient to assist with lifting and transferring a person(s), and perform CPR. Ability to lift twenty (20) lbs. Moving, lifting or transferring of person(s) may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) lbs., as well as assist with weights of more than one hundred (100) lbs.
Mobility: Sufficient mobility to bend, stoop and bend down to the floor, ability to move around rapidly and in small, confined areas.
