Sales Representative: Chicago

Role Overview:
We are seeking a qualified sales representative for our Chicago office. This challenging but rewarding role requires a strong understanding of international logistics and the sales process. The ideal candidate will have extensive industry experience, a passion for the freight business, be a self-starter, and possess the ability to showcase our offerings compellingly.
Compensation:
We offer a competitive salary package and generous benefits. The starting salary is commensurate with the candidate’s experience and book of business. Commission (without cap) is payable after the candidate reaches and maintains specific quotas.
Objectives:
- Increase revenue and volume for ALPI USA, ALPI Customs Broker, and ALPI Logistics.
- Generate leads and build client relationships.
- Develop and implement territory action plans using industry tools and collaboration with management/sales support.
- Adjust sales techniques based on interactions and results in the field.
- Encourage sales cooperation and promote sales campaigns with overseas offices and agents.
Responsibilities:
- Identify prospects, make effective qualifying sales calls, and manage the sales cycle to close new business in all service categories offered.
- Meet weekly, monthly, and annual contact and sales quotas through successful implementation of sales and marketing strategies and tactics.
- Maintain working relationships with existing clients to ensure exceptional service and identify potential new sales opportunities.
- Prepare professional and accurate presentations, quotes, and proposals.
- Create and maintain comprehensive client SOPs and work closely with operations and customer service teams.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of international logistics, both import and export, air and ocean.
- Experience (min. 5 years) in Sales Development, Account Management, and knowledge of the international market.
- Fluent English (spoken and written). Any second language a plus.
- Network of contacts and prospects within the Mid-West market.
- Proactive profile with strong negotiation and sales closing skills.
- Ability to generate new business opportunities.
- Availability to travel.
- Own vehicle.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with sales management software and CRM.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a position that requires self-motivation.
Additional Information:
- Offer contingent on candidate being free from any non-compete with current and/or former employer.
- Sales staff must work in the office when not on sales calls. The office is in Schaumburg
- Travel is required throughout the ALPI ORD Office territory, which includes Illinois, Wisconsin , Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota, Nord Dakota, Kansas, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, Kentucky
- Candidate must have the ability to travel throughout the USA/internationally if/when needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Proven success rate at levels above quotas.
