Duties
· Dispensing medication and recording dosages
· Accurately inventories and audits methadone medication logs.
· Maintaining absolute accuracy in daily accounting of the methadone that is dispensed and
· inventoried.
· Administers appropriate tests as required including patient TB tests and other nursing assessment
· techniques
· Receives medical orders and ensures that medical orders are documented and understood by
· Program Director and other staff members
· Maintains absolute control and tracking of all medical paperwork involving patient dose changes, lab
· results, physician orders, phase/level changes and verbal orders
· providing first aid and emergency services as required
· Refers clients to hospital/Designated Mental Health Professional if no less restrictive option is
· available.
· Provides educational information through the Patient Information board at least quarterly.
· Notifies treatment team of client medical non-compliance and/or missed appointments with nurses.
· Must obtain and maintain CPR certifications, have knowledge of medical complications of addiction
· and their treatment, and knowledge of general medical procedures
· Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information;
· responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods
· Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication
· administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
· Maintains continuity among nurses by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and
· continuing needs
· Responds promptly to client needs and maintains confidentiality.
· Occasionally involves light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force to move objects. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Skills/Requirements
· LVN or LPN license
