Job Title : Engineer Manager

Reports To : Plant Manager

Job Status : Salaried

Job Locations : Bryan, OH

Basic Job Functions :

Altenloh, Brinck & Co. US, Inc. manufactures and distributes engineered fasteners under the SPAX

  • brand for the construction market, TRUFAST
  • for the commercial roofing industry and TRUFASTWalls
  • for exterior building envelopes and facades. The Engineering Manager has strategic and tactical leadership responsibility and accountability for all personnel and operations relating to the engineering process for fastener manufacturing processes at the Bryan and Pioneer facilities. This leadership includes, but is not limited to product, manufacturing, process, system and controls engineering as well as the organization's Continuous Improvement culture.

Essential Responsibilities :

Management

  • Build & lead the Manufacturing Engineering department to meet current needs and grow with the company's strategies and objectives.
  • Lead all facets of Manufacturing Engineering to develop better processes for throughput optimization.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, development, training, and evaluation of department staff.
  • Lead capital discussions, ROI analysis through to complete implementation.
  • Maintain effective communication and strong morale within the department and team members.
  • Design, Research and Development

  • Collaborate with management, production, and marketing / sales to access the feasibility of projects by analyzing technology, resource needs, and market demand through data driven decision making.
  • Execute the design, testing, and application of new and existing products.
  • Plan and formulate engineering process according to project requirements while maintaining quality assurance and minimizing possible risks.
  • Work with teams to evaluate current systems and processes for quality output and efficiency continuous improvement opportunities and develop action plans for execution.
  • General Administration

  • Provide technical assistance to manufacturing, sales, and customers.
  • Assist with budgetary and resource planning within department.
  • Strategic planning and implementation.
  • General Engineering

  • Responsible for ISO related procedures within engineering and consult on all ISO procedures when / where required.
  • Responsible and / or assist with evaluation and termination of software, hardware, manufacturing equipment, and testing equipment within engineering.
  • The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned from time to time; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.

    Travel :

    This position will require some travel to trade shows and other corporate locations (Grand Rapids, MI, and Germany) for engineering process improvement, coordination & training opportunities.

    Position Requirements

    Experience :

  • 10 years previous engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Preferably in metal forming, specifically cold heading processes.
  • Previous supervisor or management experience is preferred.
  • Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline with a Master's preferred.
  • Required Skills / Competencies :

  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, product design and development.
  • Ability to develop, analyze and report engineering data and information in a neat and organized manner.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with project-based leadership and detailed oriented.
  • Strong project management skills from development to implementation.
  • Strong skills in Six Sigma (DMAIC & DMADV), Capability Analysis (Cp, CPK), DOE's, FMEA & SPC.
  • Must demonstrate a positive attitude and dedicated work ethics.
  • Ability to manage people, projects, processes, and resources associated with engineering department.
  • Experience in using various manufacturing methods to evaluate processes, draw conclusions and formulate opinions.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Knowledge in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and process simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and requirements.
