Job Summary:
The Industrial Carpenter / Scaffold Builder will be responsible for constructing, assembling, and maintaining temporary and permanent structures used throughout the chemical manufacturing plant. This role combines general carpentry tasks with scaffold building and installation, ensuring structures are safe, secure, and compliant with industry and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in an industrial setting, with strong skills in carpentry, scaffold building, and working in compliance with OSHA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construct, repair, and maintain a variety of wooden and metal structures, including frameworks, platforms, staircases, and other support structures.
- Assemble, erect, and dismantle scaffolding systems to provide secure access to elevated work areas and support maintenance, repair, and inspection activities.
- Inspect scaffolding and other structures for safety, stability, and compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with maintenance and construction teams to plan scaffold layouts and installations according to project specifications.
- Ensure proper load-bearing capacity and stability of scaffolding by securing base plates, braces, and supports.
- Interpret and follow blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications for accurate construction and scaffolding placement.
- Adhere to all OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and industry standards while performing carpentry and scaffold-building tasks.
- Maintain and troubleshoot tools and equipment necessary for carpentry and scaffold assembly.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in industrial carpentry or scaffolding is a plus.
- Proven experience as an industrial carpenter and/or scaffold builder in a chemical manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of structural integrity, load-bearing, and construction safety standards.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools for carpentry and scaffold assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards, particularly those related to working at heights and scaffold building.
- Physically capable of lifting, climbing, and working at heights while maintaining safety precautions.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
