What are the responsibilities and job description for the Night Facilities Maintenance Tech position at Altman Specialty Plants?
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs to Greenhouse structures, production plan goals. The Technician’s key role is to ensure efficient daily operations of greenhouse systems, including water, heat and controls. Reports to the Granville Maintenance Manager, but with close and constant collaboration with the Growing staff and Operations Manager.
Duties & responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preform preventative maintenance to machines, building, and greenhouse systems to ensure efficient operation
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them.
- Ensure that all equipment and greenhouse systems are operating properly
- Ensure the successful implementation and installation of new equipment
- Ensure assignments are completed on schedule, efficiently, and safely.
- Evaluate the working operation of the facility and take corrective actions as needed
- Communicate problems and solutions with management
- Able to work night or weekend shifts as needed.
Required skill set:
- Must have a strong mechanical skillset
- Working knowledge of greenhouse operating systems
- Ability to repair plumbing and irrigation systems
- Understanding of industrial HVAC, including hot water boilers, mixing valves and chillers
- Ability to diagnose electrical systems (single phase, 3 phase, high and low voltage)
- Working knowledge of construction principles including concrete, framing, and carpentry
- Ability to relate to and work with persons of all ages, social and ethnic backgrounds.
- Must be comfortable working at heights up to 16’
- Must be comfortable working in hot conditions
- Bilingual Spanish preferred
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, or 1-3 years of equivalent work experience
