Job Description

Defines programs and leads global projects to help the company establish and maintain compliance with new or changed product environmental standards, product safety certifications, and regulations, including those required to manage hazardous substances in products, energy efficiency of products, and end-of-life responsibilities. Is also responsible for working with new product design processes – as the Compliance Engineer and subject matter expert to support other team members - to ensure that new Alto-Shaam products meet relevant product regulations and certification requirements.

The ideal candidate for a Regulatory Compliance Engineer would be able to do the following:

• Ensures completion of product development compliance deliverables. This includes compliance assessment, design review, certification and test plan creation, documentation, and process implementation for new product development.
• Supports and assists in Leading enterprise-wide cross-functional projects of medium—to large scale to enact programs and processes to ensure compliance with new or changed product environmental regulations and safety certification requirements.
• Identifies and works with internal and external groups, including the Global Product Standards & Regulations organization within Alto-Shaam Inc., to analyze and communicate regulatory trends and positions and share information with impacted business groups.
• Works with Purchasing to ensure the supply chain is positioned and responsive to support ASI compliance programs.
• Supports internal and external customers by addressing requirements for product compliance information, including communication strategies.
• May serve as a product compliance interface with domestic and third-party certification agencies (such as UL, CSA, NSF, TUV, etc.).
• Assists in Leading strategy development, business process development, and critical issue closure across technical disciplines for local organizational functions.
• Assists or Leads and participates in project teams consisting of cross-functional personnel to address product design issues and new regulatory requirements related to environmental regulations and safety certifications.
• May represent Alto-Shaam Inc. in external organizations, including standards and Code development committees.
• Provide mentoring of other team members, contractors, interns, and third-party consultants during daily and project activities.
• Support for executing programs with business groups across the organization to incorporate regulatory and certification requirements into product designs for both legacy and new products.
• Gives presentations to share information and obtain support for compliance programs enterprise-wide.
• Builds strong relationships and partnerships across the company to leverage ideas, capabilities, and processes. Unifying internal constituents around a shared vision and goals and teaming with others for enhanced outcomes.

Qualifications

For a candidate to be successful as a Regulatory Compliance Engineer they must have:

• Preferred Experience: Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Quality, or related technical field with knowledge in applying fundamental engineering and manufacturing principles, theories, and techniques.
• 5-7 years experience in Manufacturing/Development, preferably in an electronics or electrical equipment manufacturing organization.
• Ability to communicate effectively through all levels in the organization.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills are required.
• Demonstrated ability to frame and manage a large quantity of ambiguous or complex work effectively and with high quality.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
• Experience in project management techniques and processes.
• Previous experience with product stewardship, environmental regulations, product standards, certifications, conformance agencies, functional safety engineering, and quality/continuous improvement is strongly preferred.
• Experience in new product development is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive change management projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with Alto-Shaam Inc. products is a plus.
• Experience with Functional Safety product certification, IEC 60335, UL-197, ANSI Z83.11, CSA, ASTM, NSF
• Willing to travel up to 10% (including international) for promotion and implementation of various initiatives and programs.
