This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Faculty - Welding who will be all-in on our mission and who will teach courses in welding, OSHA, technical math, computer aided drafted/manufacturing, and manufacturing processes. Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom, laboratory, tech-supported, welding shop or online courses and in immediate preparation for respective courses, maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught.
Qualifications
Required: Associate Degree in Welding or related field.
- High-quality work experience and professional certifications may substitute for educational requirements.
- Related work experience: Professional licensure and certifications related to the teaching assignment, honors and awards, continuing professional development, relevant peer-reviewed publications and/or continuous documented excellence in teaching.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Welding, Manufacturing, or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Three (3) years of experience in the welding industry.
Preferred: Teaching experience at secondary or post-secondary level.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in faculty development programs each semester and recruitment activities.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of students’ growth and progress to prepare students.
- Circulate through the welding shop and provide guidance to students who are performing welding tasks.
- Teach safety for all welding areas.
- Practice suitable safety measures at all times.
- Ensure all consumable items (ex. Gases and metal) are in stock and available.
- Plan, develop and present organized classroom and online instruction and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines and learning outcomes.
- Develop curriculum and prepare syllabus, keeping course content consistent with the catalog description.
- Perform teaching activities, including classroom/online instruction, direction projects, and assisting with student coursework, research, and internships.
- Effectively teach Welding courses with a willingness to learn new software applications and equipment as needed.
- Teach subject matter field.
- Select instructional materials, such as textbooks.
- Represent the Amarillo College welding program for external partners such as job fairs or student tours.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Salary: Faculty Pay Information, please review the AC AY24 Faculty Salary Placement. (Salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time, and be able to move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)
Work Environment: This job may operate in a classroom, online, or tech supported setting. This role routinely uses standard classroom and office equipment such as microphones, audio/video-recorders, computers, overhead projectors, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.
