Safety Specialist (Long Prairie)

Overview

Long Prairie Packing, LLC, an American Foods Group Company has an opportunity for a Safety Specialist at our Long Prairie, MN plant.

As a Safety Specialist you will:

• Be responsible for the coordination of safety and environmental programs (PPE check, Safety Audits, etc.)
• Contribute to meeting the mission and goals of the department and facility and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and regulations.
• Create Safety Standard Operating Procedures and Safety Postings.
• Coordinate safety/environmental programs to ensure a safe working environment consistent with all regulatory and environmental requirements and needs.
• Function as a safety/environmental coordinator in all safety/environmental issues to all levels in the organization.
• Recommend and assist in coordinating various components of the safety/environmental program, i.e., emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general plant safety, hazard surveillance, hazardous materials and SDS maintenance, and environmental waste/medical infectious waste.
• Be responsible for the appropriate dissemination of environmental and safety information to all levels of the organization under the direction of the Environmental Health and Safety Manager.
• Promote the organizations mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives, in support of the Environmental Health and Safety Manger.
• Create and maintain a work environment that encourages open communication and positive member relations to establish a climate of openness to trust.
• Conduct meetings and activities with various committees such as safety, environmental, ergonomics, and emergency response.
• Develop and deliver training material to related EHS topics.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Good communication, problem solving, and motivation skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and understand others.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
• Availability to support all shifts.
