JOB TITLE: Sewer – Foam Shop
DEPARTMENT: Sewing
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Production Supervisor, the sewer is primarily responsible for performing efficient operation of sewing machines in an assembly line setting, using single needle, boxing/border, enclosers, and zipper machines. Sewers need to utilize the best production methods and produce the best quality products possible.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operating industrial sewing machine using a foot petal to sew parts, for both cushion and flatwork to meet production schedule
- Working with down proof ticking and non-woven ticking.
- Uses both hands and arms while guiding, pushing, pulling & stretching ticking while sewing
- Filling tick bags with blown fiber and/or down to meet company specification
- Uses hands to twist, turn & tighten knobs
- Cuts ticking with scissor and or electric cutters
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to comprehend tickets/specs to ensure accuracy
- Responsible for being efficient and meeting quality standards
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 2 years of sewing experience
