American Plastics is a privately owned injection molding plastics company that designs, manufactures and sells industry leading storage and organizational products and commercial grade waste-collection products. Our clients include some of the world's most recognizable brands, encompassing leading retail companies, club and wholesale businesses, big-box retailers, home improvement centers, and farm and fleet operations. American Plastics is growing fast, both organically and thru recent acquisitions, tripling the company size and expanding the production footprint to Missouri, Ohio, Arizona, North and South Carolina. This position will report to the Vice President of Sales.
Keys to Success :
The Business Development Sales Manager plays a pivotal role in driving sales growth by identifying new business opportunities with existing customers and acquiring new clients through professional prospecting and networking skills. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, self-starting individual with a proven track record of success in sales, particularly with large customers. This role demands exceptional communication skills-both verbal and written-combined with strong leadership abilities. The capacity to cultivate and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders is essential. We seek an individual driven by personal and team achievements who thrives on the rewards of hard work and accomplishment.
Responsibilities : Sales Growth
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within our targeted markets, including Retail, Wholesale, Club, Farm & Fleet, Hardware, and e-commerce channels.
- Expand and manage relationships with existing customers by identifying product gaps and introducing new portfolio offerings.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with key retailers, distributors, and suppliers to elevate brand visibility.
Sales Pipeline Management
Generate leads through networking, trade shows, and proactive prospecting efforts.Cultivate and manage relationships with both current customers and prospective clients to move them through the sales pipeline.Develop proposals, presentations, and contracts to close business deals.Customer Relationship Management
Build and sustain strong relationships with both existing and potential clients.Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, ensuring satisfaction and fostering long-term loyalty.Gain a deep understanding of client needs and provide tailored solutions that meet their business objectives.Collaboration and Leadership
Work in close collaboration with internal teams-Marketing, Product Development, Finance, Pricing, and Operations-to align sales efforts with organizational goals.Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences, strengthening our market presence.Reporting and Analysis
Leverage internal business analytics tools to track and evaluate sales performance at the customer level.Prepare and deliver reports to senior management on sales progress and business development activities.Forecast sales revenue and develop strategies to meet or exceed performance targets.Requirements
Key Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).Proven success in managing key accounts, driving sales growth, and achieving revenue targets.Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills, especially with retailers, distributors, and channel partners.Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation capabilities.Ability to analyze market trends and data to guide strategic business decisions.Proficiency with CRM software and sales tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Power BI, Microsoft Teams).Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and results-driven, with strong problem-solving skills.Willingness to travel as required.Minimum Skills Required :
Proven success as a professional salesperson with a strong track record in prior sales roles.Experience in sales within relevant channels.Expertise in managing a diverse portfolio, with extensive experience in Big-Box Retail, Regional Farm & Fleet, Home Improvement Centers, and Club Stores.Solid understanding of Key Financial Indicators and P&L management.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).Excellent communication skills, including written, oral, and presentation abilities, as well as conflict resolution.Strong influencing skills at all organizational levels, both internal and external.Advanced negotiation skills.Strong prioritization and time management capabilities.Demonstrated managerial courage to take risks and make difficult decisions.We seek a strategic thinker who can impress both internally and externally, rather than someone who simply moves from point A to point B.Preferred Qualifications
