Director of Manufacturing

Nature and Scope: This position is responsible for site operations for a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility engaged in commercial manufacturing. The incumbent will be responsible for hiring and developing talent and will develop and maintain succession plans for all direct reports. The incumbent will interface in an inter-disciplinary environment that will include Quality, Research and Development, Technical Services, Finance, EHS, Human Resources and Corporate Administration. This position will also serve as point of contact for all applicable audits. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.  As requested, develop, prepare and manage operational plans and budgets, including expense, capital and manpower, as well as preparing routine operational metrics as required by management.  Will develop and maintain operating standards, hours and yield, for commercial products.  In support of company goals and objectives, will develop annual departmental goals.  Incumbent will challenge and improve upon existing operating standards this to include a proactive, continuous improvement on metrics associated with throughput and efficiently.  Oversee shop floor scheduling to ensure compliance to Marketing forecasts.  Ensure that appropriate Standard Operating Procedures are in place and that all staff has been adequately trained to perform their assigned tasks in a cGMP compliant manner.  Ensure a clean and safe work environment exists for all site personnel. This to include working with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) to ensure that all operational personnel have received EHS training and that it is documented as part of the on-going operation.  Will hold routine staff meetings with direct reports as well as with indirect reports .  Provide effective leadership including: individual goal setting/performance reviews, managing the development of employees, recognizing and appreciating employee contributions, mitigating conflict and communication problems, planning and facilitating team activities, selecting personnel and motivating members of the functional area.  Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by management. Education Requirements and Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Bachelors’ Degree in Life Science/Engineering or related field required.  Minimum of 10 years progressive experience with increasing responsibility with Aseptic Pharmaceutical; manufacturing, filling, packaging, and operations required. 10233 (Jun 30, 2023 08:10 EDT) 10233 2  A minimum of seven (7) years managing/supervising pharmaceutical manufacturing operations .  Strong knowledge and expertise across multiple areas which may include, but not limited to, in-depth knowledge of cGMP’s, lypholization technology, conventional and aseptic barrier systems, budgeting, master scheduling and production planning. Experience with cytotoxic compounds a plus.  Proven record of exceptional people and program management skills.  Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).  Demonstrated ability to build teams, lead and motivate diverse groups of people to meet established goals.  Ability to work off hours and weekends. Physical Environment and Requirements  Physically able to wear cleanroom/protective gowning and equipment, including but not limited to gowning, goggles, face shields, respirators, and protective gloves. PPE and Respirators are essential for the health and safety of employees.  While performing duties of the job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; talk and hear. Expected Salary range: $168,700 - $200,000 The salary range displayed is a good faith estimate of the base pay range for this role. Actual compensation for the role will be based on a number of different factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, education, knowledge, skills and experience.
