Data Governance Director

Primary Purpose of Job

The Data Governance Director oversees all aspects of data management within the organization, establishing frameworks to ensure data quality, security and compliance.  Scope encompasses partnership with the Director of Data Systems to define/map data strategy, provide analytics frameworks, and offer thought leadership.

Major Job Accountabilities

• Establishes and maintains data governance frameworks, policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, reliability and security.
• Supports Data Stewards with implementing processes to improve data quality, including data cleansing and validation.
• Develops the data governance program, securing engagement and buy-in for enterprise-wide data stewardship and ownership communities by engaging business leaders.
• Provides industry best practices, identifies gaps and proposes solutions as trusted advisor to key business stakeholders, understanding the details and distinctions of both functional business areas and lines of business.
• Coordinates report writing efforts to leverage the Enterprise Data Platform tools.
• Further develops the bank's information and analytics culture.  Identifies opportunities to consolidate or reduce reporting.

Experience Required

Ten (10) years of experience in the following:

• Banking, business and quantitative analytical experience.
• Data operations, analytics, reporting, and data management/governance or related experience.

Required Skills or Training 

• Ability to condense complex concepts and analysis into clear and concise insights that drive action.

• Strong analytical skills to identify data quality issues, develop data management strategies and drive data-driven decision-making.

• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical constituents.

• Possesses excellent analytical skills, reflected through development of metrics, measurements, and data analysis.

• Proficiency with a broad range of data analytics and automation technologies including Tableau, R and SQL, Data Visualization tools etc.

Professional Certifications, Licenses, And/or Registration Requirements

•  Valid US driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle to travel for off-site training/meetings.
