Industrial Electrician

AWF is seeking a self-starter with moderate to expert knowledge in PLC controls, specifically with Allen-Bradley systems. The ideal candidate will be capable of installing/wiring electrical equipment, programming controls and VFD’s, troubleshooting electrical issue both in-person and remotely. This candidate most possesses the ability to learn new skills quickly. The ability to adapt to new challenges on a short learning curve is essential to the success of this role and AWF.

About the Role:

The Industrial Electrician, reporting to the Engineering department, plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and systems. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including PLC controls, to optimize production processes. The successful candidate will troubleshoot electrical issues and implement solutions to minimize downtime and enhance productivity. Additionally, the Industrial Electrician will collaborate with other team members to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall success and reliability of manufacturing operations.

Skills:

The required skills, particularly in PLC controls, are essential for diagnosing and resolving complex electrical issues that arise in manufacturing equipment. Daily work will involve using technical knowledge to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams, ensuring that all electrical installations meet industry standards. Preferred skills, such as familiarity with industrial automation, will enhance the ability to implement efficient solutions and upgrades. Strong problem-solving skills will be utilized to quickly identify faults and minimize production downtime. Overall, a combination of these skills will enable the Industrial Electrician to contribute effectively to the manufacturing process and maintain high operational standards.

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, particularly with PLC controls, to ensure minimal disruption to production.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues remotely.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement electrical upgrades and improvements.
• With minimal direction, justify, source and purchase any required electrical/controls equipment.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing electrical work to maintain a safe working environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of an apprenticeship program in electrical work or equivalent experience.
• Valid electrical license or certification as required by local regulations.
• Demonstrated proficiency with the troubleshooting, installation and programming of PLC controls and related electrical systems.
• High school diploma/GED required
• Ability to travel up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with industrial automation and control systems specifically Allen Bradley.
• Additional certifications in electrical safety or advanced PLC programming.
• 2-year college degree or advanced PLC certification equivalents preferred.
