Position Summary:
Ensures the accuracy of all claims submitted, performs follow-up on accounts not paid timely, processes all adjustments with approval, and verifies Insurance coverage when necessary. Effectively collect cash on outstanding Accounts Receivables. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining positive relationships with clients. This position requires a strong understanding of medical coding, terminology, and collection processes within a medical office environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Training:
- Ability to deal effectively with insurance carriers and their representatives
- Effective communication skills and general office skills (i.e., data entry, reporting)
- Experience with various insurance carriers preferred (i.e., Medicare and Medicaid)
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Knowledge of HCPCS, ICD-10 and Reimbursement Guidelines
Essential Job Duties:
- Manage Account Receivables of assigned accounts including processing insurance denials/appeals which may include phone contact with insurance companies
- Speak to patients by telephone in order to determine reason for overdue payment, reviewing terms of sales, service, or credit contract with customer
- Respond to all patient and insurance company inquiries related to billing
- Identify and resolve patient billing complaints
- Review and send patient statements for self-pay portion of bills not covered by insurance.
- Initiate refund requests for Manager's approval.
- Sorts and files correspondence
- Communicate with Management on an ongoing basis
- Keep informed of changes in contracts and insurance carriers through in-services and memos
- Maintain confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
- Perform other activities as requested by Management
Qualifications:
- Experience in DME/Respiratory or Healthcare billing preferred
- Familiarity with medical records management and processing is essential
- Brightree Database experience helpful
