Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens (FoKAG) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the only national park devoted to water-loving plants. We connect people of all ages and backgrounds to nature through conservation, education, and community engagement. As environmental changes increasingly impact the park’s fragile ecosystems, we are expanding our efforts to promote stewardship and deepen connections with local communities. We are seeking an enthusiastic AmeriCorps VISTA member to serve as a Development and Special Projects Coordinator. This position will play a key role in strengthening our organizational capacity by supporting fundraising efforts, creating strategic partnerships, and leading innovative projects that enhance park accessibility, equity, and engagement. The coordinator will also advance initiatives like Come Alive After 5, which extends park hours to create a safe, welcoming space for families, youth, and seniors. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA serving as the Development and Special Projects Coordinator at Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens will support efforts to build organizational capacity through fundraising, grant writing, donor engagement, and strategic partnership development. A key focus will be supporting Come Alive After 5, an initiative that expands park hours during warmer months to create a safe, inclusive space for families, youth, and seniors. The VISTA will coordinate programming, promote community engagement, and volunteer recruitment for these extended hours. They will also develop systems to track program outcomes and strengthen outreach efforts. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit development, project management, and environmental justice. Through targeted programming, the VISTA will move individuals and communities out of poverty by Providing Pathways to Education and Employment.
