Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilize industry and market knowledge to successfully negotiate pricing agreements with carriers to maximize profitability and ensure adequate capacity levels
- Create loads, set appointments, dispatches, track and trace loads, root cause, problem-solving, and resolve/communicate to carrier and/or customer as appropriate
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with a high volume of calls/ emails
- Ensure compliance with all applicable freight laws and regulations
- Perform data entry tasks to accurately record shipment details and maintain up-to-date records
- Observe and understand fluctuating rate markets/trends and quickly adapt to new situations
- Maintain strong relationships with multiple carriers
- Work with management, customers, and vendors to resolve any transportation issues
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in business or related field preferred.
- 2 years’ Logistics experience in a manufacturing setting
- In-depth knowledge of ERP shipping and receiving
- Outstanding analytical and statistical technical skills
- Must exhibit a strong degree of professionalism and excellent communication skills
- Highly organized and process-oriented with an ability to multitask and excel in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- Advanced computer proficiency, specifically MS Office Excel, and Word.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize, multitask, anticipate changing project needs, and meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The position will also frequent the production floor, so operating in the standard seasonal warehouse and food processing plant temperature conditions will be required.
