What You Will Spark at Amplify:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sr Quality Engineer – Electrode Process to join our team. The Sr Quality Engineer will contribute to the development, design, and support of the electrode process within battery cell manufacturing. This role will support the planning, development, testing and commissioning of over 700 pieces of manufacturing equipment alongside Manufacturing Engineering partners. In the near-term, heavy focus will be placed on working with our partners domestic and international with a focus on proper quality controls, risk mitigations, FMEA development, as well as any other key quality criteria to create and support robust manufacturing processes. After implementation of the equipment, responsibilities will transition into supporting the day-to-day quality operations and continuous improvement of the process. The Sr Quality Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and improving the quality of electrode manufacturing processes, including slurry mixing, coating, drying, calendaring, and slitting. This role involves close collaboration with manufacturing engineering and production teams to ensure process stability, product consistency, and compliance with stringent quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly support the electrode processes within the plant.
- Develop and implement quality assurance and control procedures for the electrode manufacturing process.
- Monitor key process parameters (e.g., slurry viscosity, coating thickness, and porosity) to ensure consistency and compliance with specifications.
- Lead investigations into electrode process defects (e.g., coating inconsistencies, pinholes, or particle agglomeration).
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Establish SPC programs for critical electrode process steps.
- Analyze data trends to identify potential issues and optimize process performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and execute process improvement initiatives.
- Drive the enhancement of yield and waste reduction.
- Work with the supplier quality team to ensure raw materials (e.g., active materials, binders, solvents, etc.) meet quality standards and address material-related issues impacting electrode quality.
- Create, maintain, and update quality documentation, including control plans, FMEAs, and work instructions.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9000, IATF 16949) and customer requirements.
- Support internal and external audits related to electrode processes.
- Report on key quality metrics and present findings to management.
