Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Malpractice Paralegal to join their prominent law firm specializing in complex litigation. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical malpractice law and possess the ability to manage all aspects of case preparation from inception to trial. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. As a Medical Malpractice Paralegal, you will work closely with attorneys, clients, and expert witnesses to support the firm’s litigation team in handling high-stakes medical malpractice cases.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management:
- Assist attorneys in all stages of medical malpractice litigation, from initial case intake through trial.
- Organize and manage case files, ensuring all documents and information are accurately filed and up to date.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, subpoenas, and other legal documents.
- Prepare and organize medical records and other evidence for trial, including reviewing, summarizing, and indexing complex medical documents.
- Coordinate with expert witnesses and medical professionals to prepare reports and opinions for case development.
Research & Analysis
- Conduct legal and factual research related to medical malpractice claims, including case law, statutes, and medical literature.
- Review medical records and healthcare protocols to assist attorneys in building strong case strategies.
- Prepare case summaries and reports for attorneys and clients, highlighting critical issues and case developments.
Client Interaction
- Maintain regular communication with clients to provide case updates and gather relevant information.
- Assist in preparing clients for depositions, trials, and other legal proceedings.
Discovery & Investigation
- Coordinate and manage the discovery process, including preparing discovery responses, issuing subpoenas, and tracking deadlines.
- Conduct investigation into potential witnesses and medical facilities involved in the case.
Trial Preparation & Support
- Assist attorneys during trial preparation by organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, and compiling trial notebooks.
- Attend trial proceedings to provide in-court assistance to attorneys, including managing evidence and client coordination.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a legal environment.
- Paralegal certification from an accredited institution is preferred.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal in medical malpractice or personal injury law.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures related to medical malpractice claims.
- Experience with legal research databases and case management software.
Salary : $55,000 - $60,000
