POSITION SUMMARY:
Currently the Company has a job opportunity for an Accounting Controller. As Controller, this person is responsible for the preparation and distribution of financial statements and analysis, and requires effective monitoring and accounting for all financial transactions for both the Title Reporting and Title Insurance lines of business. The Controller will interact directly with all personnel and be responsible for financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical and problem-solving talents as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. The individual is expected to be the point of contact for all accounting matters and provide results with minimal or no review.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Reconcile financial information and review and post necessary accruals, adjustments, depreciation, etc.
• Manage daily cash flow, approve disbursements, and maintain adequate liquidity in escrow and operating accounts.
• Preparing closing statements for commercial real estate transactions.
• Production of remittance reports to insurance companies
• Coordinate with escrow officers and underwriters to reconcile trust and escrow accounts accurately and on schedule.
• Produce monthly and quarterly financial reports and schedules which are distributed to the management team and owners.
• Maintain organized work papers with appropriate support and documentation.
• Provide financial information, documentation and analysis as requested by management and owners.
• Prepare annual tax work papers, documentation and analyses for external tax preparers. Review Tax return for accuracy.
• Review and negotiate contracts for terms, pricing and other requirements for national search business clients
• Collaborate with senior management to create annual budget and period forecasts aligned with organizational goals
• Work in partnership with the Senior Accountant who is responsible for.
• Prepares client invoices and reconciles to proprietary order system.
• Manage accounts payable and process vendor payments.
• Verify billings and ensure timely collection and receipt application.
• Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts, revenues and expenses.
• Assist in annual budget preparation and review.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 10 years of accounting experience with recent management responsibility.
• Strong understanding of accounting theory, including GAAP, accrual and cash bases.
• Proficient with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) required. With regards to Excel, they should be able to analyze large amounts of data as well as incorporate certain functions to aid in performing the task at hand efficiently.
• General knowledge of the real estate and title insurance industries, preferably in the commercial real estate space.
