What are the responsibilities and job description for the ED Communication Specialist position at AnMed?
Provides quality of patient care consistent with the standards and guidelines established by AnMed Emergency Department. While working in the Emergency Department, the communication specialist works under the guidance and supervision of the Emergency Department nurse(s) and charge nurse(s) to provide treatment as ordered by the physician(s)/provider(s) to promote quality and safe care of the patients within the department.
Some Specific Duties Include:
- Receive incoming report (EMS, physician offices, nursing homes, etc…). If orders are to be given, the call will be transferred to a nurse or a physician.
- Maintains a database of all EMS alerts requested by EMS prior to arrival.
- Assists with patient callbacks as instructed by charge nurse and/or physician.
- Assists nursing staff by obtaining vital signs of patients as instructed by charge nurse of the Emergency Department.
Qualifications:
Required:
- H.S. Diploma or GED equivalency required. EMT Certificate, graduate of an approved paramedic program, registered nurse, or completion of an approved nursing assistant training course.
- Experience: Hospital based nursing assistant, phlebotomist, paramedic, surgical technician, patient care technician, registered nurse, or other approved training/education.
