Anne Arundel Dermatology is looking for a qualified, driven Staff Accountant to help support our Accounting team. The Staff Accountant will support the month end close process and will be responsible for analysis and reporting for the growing organization. This resource will also maintain and control general ledger accounts and ensure that transactions are accounted for in accordance with US GAAP. The staff accountant will report to the Accounting Manager.
Salary range: 60-80k, depending upon years of experience in accounting.
Responsibilities
Job Summary: As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in our financial department, contributing to the maintenance and accuracy of financial records, reports, and transactions. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of accounting duties, from reconciling accounts and preparing financial statements to assisting with audits and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
- Support the month-end, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in preparing documentation for audits and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial discrepancies and issues.
- Participate in financial analysis and forecasting.
- Conduct periodic account reviews to identify and rectify discrepancies.
- Stay current with accounting regulations and industry best practices.
- Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
- 0-2 years of experience in accounting.
- Relevant accounting or finance experience is a plus.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is a plus.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in accounting principles and financial software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance standards, including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software applications.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Licensure/Certifications/Education
- 1-3 years of Public and/or Corporate Accounting experience
- Accounting/Finance degree preferred
- Fundamental knowledge of US GAAP is a must
