Ansell is looking for a Associate Quality Scientist to join our team in Reno, NV!
In this position you will play a vital role in supporting the Scientific Affairs Test Laboratory as part of the R&D Department in Reno, NV. The Associate Quality Scientist will be responsible for accredited and non-accredited testing and analyzing product performance through standardized and non-standardized test methods including both physical and chemical testing. This position will also be responsible for supporting accredited testing activities, various research projects, white paper development, technical writing, and statistical analysis of product performance data.

What would this role look like in detail?
- Conduct accredited testing and analysis of product performance via standardized methods, supporting activities related to ISO audits.
- Conduct non-accredited testing and analysis of product performance via standardized methods.
- Conduct maintenance and calibration on a variety of laboratory equipment.
- Manage assigned projects in their entirety in a timely manner with general supervision.
- Technical report writing for both internal and external customers.
- Provide technical support and strategic advice to both internal and external customers on a range of topics related to personal protective equipment.
- Invest time in reading industry standards, glove science and communicating complex technical topics into business or customer needs.
- Conduct primary and secondary collaborative research on a variety of technical topics related to personal protective equipment.
- Maintain chemical inventories and oversee chemical waste disposal.
- Understand and follow Quality System documents relevant to responsibilities such as SA Test Lab Quality Manual, SOPs, Methods, and Local Policies.
- Work in a team setting with other Associate Scientists and/or Laboratory Technicians.
- Maintain a safe, clean laboratory and clean work area.
- Support related administrative activities.
What will you bring to Ansell?
- Bachelor of Science in analytical chemistry, polymer chemistry, biology, or similar physical science preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a corporate environment.
- 3-5 years of work experience in a laboratory environment.
- Experience with pH analysis, UV-VIS spectroscopy, gas chromatography with flame ionization (GC-FID), and FTIR spectroscopy is strongly preferred.
- Experience with presenting technical information to business partners is required.
- Experience with wet chemistry or mechanical instrumentation is strongly preferred.
- Glove or polymer laboratory experience preferred.
- Experience with hazardous chemical handling is preferred.
- Experience with record keeping in an office setting preferred. Administrative paperwork and other documentation are needed for project validation and quality record keeping.
- Experience with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) a plus.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions
