Description
A Production Planner is responsible for keeping a production schedule on track. As a Production Planner, your job is to ensure that materials and resources are available when needed and that everything runs smoothly. In addition, communicating & evaluating suppliers or quality timeliness and matching according to goals.
Requirements
• Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules aligned with customer demand and capacity constraints.
• Coordinate with purchasing and inventory teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
• Monitor work order progress and adjust schedules based on production status, labor availability, and material flow.
• Communicate schedule updates, delays, or changes to relevant departments to ensure alignment.
• Analyze forecast data, backlogs, and historical trends to support long-term planning and continuous improvement efforts.
• Reviews shipments for quality and accuracy; reviews accompanying documents for accuracy.
• Prepares and maintains records of materials received and shipped, including dates of transactions, locations, and other pertinent information.
• Create sales order paperwork and prepare customer orders for shipments.
• Confirms shipping details or special instructions; expedite shipments affecting the production process schedule.
• Transport and load materials, supplies, and finished goods (manually and/or using hand trucks and skids).
• Ensure raw materials for jobs are at workstations as required, by working with Operations and Master Scheduler.
• Count, package, weigh, and prepare product for shipment, as well as the required documents for the shipping and billing of product to customers.
• Unpack and examine incoming shipments for rejects, damaged items, or shortages and correspond with the shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
• Route items, packing slips, material certifications, and safety data sheets to appropriate departments on time.
• Tag and label all incoming materials into the warehouse as required.
• Count inventory as required.
• Pull inventory tags for material removed from the warehouse.
• Maintain the location, integrity, and storage of items in the warehouse, finished goods inventory, and shipping materials and supplies.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Operate forklift on production floor.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Minimum experience in the following areas:
· Excellent verbal and nonverbal skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Understand the logistics of manufacturing and accounting for manufacturing needs.
· Good math and written communication skills.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP (Epicor or Proshop) software.
· Efficient time management & organizational skills.
· High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or other formal training in related field preferred.
· Knowledge of HAZWOP procedures
· At least two years of related experience required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively communicate information with managers and other employees, both orally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rate, ratio, interest, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding, carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
