Salary: Based on current salary scale
Summary
Enables students to derive the maximum educational benefit from school by promoting sense of self and by treating educational and psychological problems under the supervision of a licensed school psychologist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following
Assesses the psychological and educational needs of students. The assessment includes but is not limited to: collection of medical, developmental, and educational histories; selection of appropriate tests; administration and interpretation of test results; report writing; and multi disciplinary conference - to include parent and school personnel.
Arranges for and monitors out-of-district placements of exceptional students.
May be required to restrain students. Maintains confidentiality. Implements district policies and guidelines relating to special education.
Represents school district's interests by attending State Department of Education meeting regarding school psychological services/providing services for exceptional children.
Provides consultation services to personnel and community members.
Provides short-term counseling to students and parents on matters related to students' learning and/or social-emotional adjustments.
Participates in the evaluation of special ed teachers, speech and occupational therapists, and aides.
Participates in extracurricular assignments as needed.
