HUMAN RESOURCES ASSSISTANT
REPORTS TO: Chief of Human Resources
Position Requirements: Associates degree in a related field preferred but not required; high school diploma required. Prior knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources preferred. Minimum of 2-4 years of administrative experience, in an HR environment or a combination of education and experience. Minimum of 2 years of prior HR related experience preferred. Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy. Must have valid driver’s license and be willing and able to travel throughout the Agency service region.
Job Summary:
The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s Human Resource Department.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Processes I-9’s through E-Verify.
- Provides clerical support to the HR department.
- May assist with the process of recruiting and assisting with interviews.
- Posting job openings on various platforms and managing candidate inquires.
- Entering employee data into the ADP computer database.
- Conducts or assists with new hire orientation.
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment.
- Continuously learn the latest HR best practices to improve workplace efficiency
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of labor laws.
- Exposure to payroll practices.
- High level of confidentiality required
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
- Ability to work independently and as a team
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
