Essential Job Functions
The job of Cannon Music Camp Director has many responsibilities and is a year-round administrative commitment. Some of the duties are as follows :
Provide leadership for over 250 campers and faculty during the three-week camp sessionSet the daily Camp schedule, assign teaching, plan curriculum and administrative dutiesSecure facilities (assign offices, classroom space, etc.)Administer a budget in excess of $400,000Set Camp prices for the following yearConsult with Housing, Food Services, Conferences and Institutes, etc.Oversee contracts for faculty and staffCalculate faculty and staff salariesOversee the awarding of scholarships, including personally evaluating the many online scholarship applications and developing a scholarship awards platform that will account for merit, financial need, and instrument / voice part enrollment that will ensure a strong musical experience for students in the camp.Interview and hire faculty and staffFill positions not covered by HSOM facultySelect camp counseling staff through an application and interview processInteract with the various constituencies that are a part of the Camp :
CampersParentsPublic / private school music teachersFacultyStaffVarious campus entities
Supervisor together with the Dean of the Hayes School of Music the Community Engagement Specialist (job reviews, etc.)Provide instruction as needed during the camp.Develop long-term sustainability plans for Cannon Music Camp through financial planning, enrollment management, and development activities. This would include the development of revenue and the management of expenditures that will allow the resources to sustain the fiscal operation of the Cannon Music Camp.Develop connections between the Cannon Music Camp and the Hayes School of Music that enhance recruitment for the University, aligns curriculum with Hayes School of Music Majors, and advances opportunities for experiential education for graduate and undergraduate students in the Hayes School of Music.

Work Schedule / Hours
Work schedule will vary. Work duties may be performed within University hours, Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM, and also during nights and weekends to meet the responsibilities of the position.
