Position Description
POSITION TITLE: Director for Curriculum
FLSA: Exempt Professional
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for Academic Services
Qualifications:
- A minimum of three years teaching experience
- A masters degree in Administration or Curriculum & Instruction
- Administrative experience and a doctorate preferred.
- Collaborative and interpersonal skills
- Proven leadership skills
- Effective public speaking skills
- Technology skills and the willingness to expand such skills
- A knowledge of best practices
Areas of Accountability:
- Provides leadership and direction to the district’s instructional program.
- Provides leadership and direction to educational programs as assigned (e.g. gifted, counseling, Title I, Parents as Teachers, English as a Second Language and Pre-K programs)
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work with teachers and principals to direct, coordinate and facilitate instructional improvement initiatives.
- Develop annual and long-range instructional goals of the district.
- Monitor and evaluates the performance and progress of the district’s instructional program.
- Identify and enlists community agencies and individuals to support the district’s instructional program.
- Identify, write and coordinate grants to support instructional programs.
- Develop and monitor the annual budget within the guidelines of the district and/or state.
- Ensure that program objectives are appropriate and effectively monitored.
- Apply a working knowledge of federal, state and district requirements to revise instructional and educational programs.
- Serve on committees and provide reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Academic Services.
