What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Specialist position at Applebury Behavior Associates?
The Billing Specialist is responsible for accurately processing insurance claims, managing workflows, resolving billing inquiries, and ensuring timely payments and reimbursement. This position will report to the Billing Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work directly with multiple private and secondary insurance providers to prepare and submit accurate insurance claims for direct services.
- Coordinate with prospective clients and management to ensure all required insurance information is obtained for submittals and appeals.
- Coordinates with insurance providers to resolve denials, delayed claims, and appeals appropriately.
- Respond to billing related inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and internal staff.
- Ensure that all Board Certified Behavior Analysists’ and Behavior Technicians' are accounted for with no errors on timesheets, services, or duplicate services.
- Assist in processing and collecting insurance payments and copayments and ensure accurate and timely payment postings.
- Independently audit and correct billing errors and insurance submissions.
- Ensure compliance with HIPPA regulations related to medical billing.
- Audit and correct billing codes regularly.
Education and Experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or other related degree preferred.
- 2-4 years of working experience in medical billing or other related field preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Pay: $47,500.00 - $56,000.00 per year
