Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and team-oriented Senior Accountant to serve as the right hand to the Accounting Manager in a highly collaborative office environment. This role is ideal for a leader who can provide examples of successfully guiding teams, driving process improvements, and fostering a positive team culture. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in day-to-day financial operations, budgeting, procurement, and revenue management, ensuring smooth financial processes across the division.
Key Responsibilities
-Leadership & Team Development: Supervise and mentor a team of three, ensuring a supportive and efficient work environment. Act as the first point of contact for accounting inquiries before escalating to the Accounting Manager.
-Operational Management: Oversee the Finance and Accounting unit's daily functions, including AP/AR processing, budget management, purchase orders, and inventory tracking.
-Backup for Accounting Manager: Serve as the full backup for the Accounting Manager, ensuring continuity in all financial operations, reporting, and strategic initiatives.
Process Improvement & Compliance: Drive continuous process improvement, ensuring compliance with policies and financial regulations while streamlining workflows.
-Data Analytics & Audits: Assist in managing state term contract fee programs, including audits and database administration, and provide data-driven insights for decision-making.
-Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the preparation and evaluation of division budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure financial accuracy.
-Culture & Team Engagement: Actively contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture, including participating in birthday lunches, team outings, and office events.
Qualifications & Skills
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
-Strong leadership experience with the ability to mentor and manage a team.
-Experience in budgeting, accounts payable/receivable, procurement, and financial reporting.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive and approachable demeanor.
-Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and implement process improvements.
-Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
